Charles Harris

Charles Harris is the Founder and CEO of Housing, Education, and Economic Development (HEED) and the Mississippi Reinvestment Coalition, located in Jackson, MS. He personally has over thirty (30) years of Fair Housing experience and has hosted a Fair Housing, Fair Lending Conference for the last 32 years; several Fair Housing workshops, as well as, Fair Housing training sessions, during the fiscal year.
His greatest accomplishments to date were preventing a major bank from closing a branch that had been in a small, predominately African-American neighborhood in Jackson, MS, as well as, a rural bank in Friars Point, MS. One of Charles Harris’ favorite mantras remains, “Closing a bank in a small community creates a serious financial situation for all residents.”
